The only choice for data-driven government transformation is black and white … and orange

The UK and Irish Governments have Smart Government ambitions. They want to deliver citizen-centric services that provide far more tailored, personalised services. They want to acquire and use resources more efficiently, push forward with integrated policy development across departments and make better informed decisions on the frontline. The results will be greater efficiencies in the way that departments work, more holistic policies and services that deliver better, more effective citizen outcomes.

Achieving these ambitions requires deeper digital transformation, powered by data that will increasingly be shared across departments and be augmented by external or open data sources. Data will fuel decision-making, AI will augment citizen services and new webscale apps will make it possible for citizens to interact more efficiently with government departments.

In all this, data is key.
Now is the time for government IT decision-makers to review legacy storage systems (such as spinning disk) and outmoded storage architectures and replace them with cost-effective, high performance all-flash that is architected to make data more fluidly available, instantly as-a-service. Additionally, with self-driving all-flash storage in place, IT leaders can release storage headcount to other activities such as user support, security, planning and operations.
