End of general support for vSphere 6.5 and 6.7

Philip Holmes

October 4th, 2022

The end of general support for vSphere 6.5 and 6.7 is fast approaching. On 15th October 2022 support will cease for both versions, including vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 6.5/ 6.7 and vCenter Server 6.5/ 6.7. If you haven’t already prepared, find out how to maintain full support for your organisation now with our quick guide.

Upgrading to vSphere 7.x

To maintain your full level of support and subscription services, we recommend upgrading to vSphere 7.x. VMware will offer technical guidance for vSphere 6.x for up to one year from the end of general support for vSphere 6.5 and 6.7, but this does not include security patches or updates.

We strongly advise upgrading to the latest version of the Hypervisor and vCenter before the 15th October deadline as this will impact your security posture. It could also have a negative effect on your security standards, such as Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.

VMware offer key insights to help you plan for your upgrade to vSphere 7.x. These resources are available directly from VMware.
